When I built my first and only Warmoth, I assembled it in pieces. I started with hot rodding out my highway1 strat with new hardware and electronics, then bought a new warmoth neck for it, then finally bought a new warmoth body. I ended up with a whole new guitar in the end. My original plan was to just reassemble my old guitar but after having that warmoth neck on that HW1, I realized how dead sounding that neck was. So I have been watching the showcase necks and been tempted to pull the trigger on a new neck several times. Today, I finally did it!
I decided to take Cagey's advice on the 'No inlay' option. I do agree with him that it offers a cleaner, sleeker look. I originally thought that I might have trouble playing without the fretboard inlays but I have payed attention to how I play and realized I don't ever really look at the fretboard inlays, I only really use the top fret markers. So I don't think it will be an issue.
It's a Bubinga neck with macassar ebony fingerboard. I have an LSR roller nut laying around so I opted for the LSR prep and 6150 frets, stainless, of course! Its going on a black, red, yellow burst strat body. I think the bubinga and streaks in the ebony will compliment the body nicely, at least I am hoping. It's nothing flashy but hoping it will turn out to be a great feeling and great sounding guitar.
