Quilt Top Tele Build

No idea, I’ve never seen or held one in person. The control plate contains the switch, pots, pre-amp, pickup mode toggle, and battery all in one drop-in unit.

Thanks! The neck is Gibson scale conversion, plain roasted maple, 1 5/8" nut, Wolfgang Carve, 6100 stainless frets, with the Earvana (compensated) nut, with abalone dot inlays. I thought about doing a flame maple neck but in the end, I thought it would too much "bling" with the body. Now that I see it, I think I made the right call. I wouldn't change a thing.

Good call on the neck.

mixing flame and quilt is like wearing stripes and polka dots at the same time, no Bueno. Lol

Finally got the guitar from my tech today. While he was intonating it last week the pre-amp for the Fishman Tele set blew up. He heard a loud hissing and popping noise, then no sound. Fishman quickly sent out a replacement which he installed today and finished the setup.

Holy crap! It plays like butter. I don't have a ton of experience with Tele's but I really like the pickups. The bridge pickup is plenty good for tones up to classic metal and hard rock. The neck pickup is the big surprise to me. Most neck pickups on any guitar to me sound too fat and flabby and make everything indistinct. Not the Tele neck. It is pretty exactly what I want. I've been at this for 35 years or so and never owned a Tele before. I think I might have been a Tele guy all along. I'm sure some of this is the honeymoon period, but I'm really liking it so far.

The setup still needs to be dialed in a bit and the fret ends needs to be rounded over, but other than that I'm really happy. I'm going to wait a few weeks and the neck settle in more with string tension before I do anything, but overall I'm really happy with the results.

On to the next build!
