Purple flame

I had not noticed this thread had been dug out, thanks for the comments! It's a chambered swamp ash body with flame maple top, clear to purple burst with natural binding, as the pictures show. Wilkinson (non-recessed) routing. Grabbed from the showcase—I originally intended to build a Sonic Blue strat but I couldn't pass on this one.

The neck is a one piece flame maple boatneck with SS 6150 frets. I was considering a maple/rosewood instead, but I'll try maple first. There is actually a thread in the "work in progress" section, but I did not have much time to work on it, so the project has been in standby for two months. Hopefully I'll have more time in the coming days to finally oil the neck, do the fretwork and build the whole thing.

Hannaugh's hardtail could be this one's twin! If it turns out anything like hers, it is gonna be -AWESOME!  :o

I'd really like it to. There will be pearl on this one too :icon_biggrin: As a matter of fact, at some point I had my eyes on a magenta burst strat just like Hanna's, but with no natural binding. It was sold while I was still pondering, but I don't regret my choice one bit.

I've finally started to work on the neck again, so I'll update the thread in the appropriate section soon.

Yeah not quite the same as mine because it fades to clear instead of magenta, and I don't think the core wood is the same, but they would seriously compliment each other hanging on the wall.  Maybe I need to build another Strat...  :laughing7:  Sometimes I feel like I should at least have one guitar with a trem.  Aw man, now I'm all GASed up.  :tard:

What core wood is it?  Ash?

I don't think you can ever really go wrong with natural flame binding. Plus I love how tight the figuring is! Congrats!
