That is hilarious  :toothy12: :toothy12: :toothy12:

For some reason, I just can't get on board with it.  It's just a Strat with an "off" looking headstock to me.
He could have gone to Suhr & gotten a really nice Strat style, odd that PRS would have even been an option to a Strat purist like him.

Its probably following on from the Grateful Dead type guitar PRS made him and the signature PRS amp, then you need a PRS strat.

PRS, public relations Strat

I agree. Perhaps he just wanted to deal with PRS for all the obvious reasons, but it seems like Suhr would have been just as good an option for that style.

Bohlinger liked it.

Bohlinger's a hell of a player, but I've never seen him review a piece of gear that didn't give him an erection you could see from the International Space Station. He is fundamentally in the business of serving Premier Guitar's advertisers.  Which means if he doesn't like or cannot feign enchantment with a piece of gear, you and I will never see the review.

But leaving aside the economics of guitar publications, my guess is that this is absolutely a well-built Strat clone that is being dropped into a market that is pretty full of well-built Strat clones.  The advantage PRS has here is, of course, the fact that they are PRS and thus widely known and respected as a builder.  A Strat clone looks to me like a step backward as a matter of advancing the craft of guitar building; but as an economic matter, it may well make sense as a signature model they can sell a lot of.

PRS has some solid models in their range but this one makes me nervous and uncomfortable at the same time, like being at someone's house and they weird you out. Given the price point I would probably look at a Nash, Riggio, or some other more proper strat based guitar that arguably has more attention to detail and build quality than anything factory at that price point. And whenever I hear "PRS" I can't stop thinking about the interview that one producer gave about the Rush album he worked on where he told Alex Lifeson he couldn't play his PRS by telling him he wasn't going to "record that coffee table."

Here is a guitar that few people will want.... in my opinion.

I agree, I can't see it taking off, unless folks want to own a future PRS "Lawsuit Strat"...

A lawsuit is a ship that sailed long ago. The Fender body shapes were pretty much ruled already to be a generic design or shape. So unless you copy the headstock its as good as an open source design now.

Still don't understand why the internet has their collective panties in a wad over this.  Name a guitar company that does NOT have a Strat copy...

I've noticed over the years that some folks like having their panties in a wad  :icon_biggrin:

They couldn’t try to sex up that output jack?  Ibanez is the only company that bothered to modernize it (S series).
