Project six in the works..(updated pics)

That is a very sweet neck indeed.  Looks like a great build and I will be watching closely.
I would like to hear some clips of that girl when she is finished.
Good luck & :rock-on:

You just posted pictures of that thing naked 2 days ago! You gotta give me the number of your finishing guy!

I will say thank you for Marc. To be fair he had it a few days before I started posting though he does keep on top of things as a matter of course. By the way he is "Burtone Guitars". He hangs out on TGP , his handle is superlead.

Kinmans! Someone flog that man!

Thanks everyone. I am looking forward to this so much. I have waited a long time for this. I plan on posting some clips once finished. I think I'm completely done with trem guitars too. I really love to bend and shake the neck and the fatback should take the abuse nicely. Another reason I didn't want to go with full polish finish is that I didn't want to feel like I needed to take it easy on it. I plan on it getting played hard.

A few more coats of clear and it will be time to assemble. That's still a ways off but it's looking really great. I stopped by to see it in person today and it looks even better than the pics. The neck has some really nice flame to it and the tint goes well with the burst.

So I'm thinking a single ply white guard. Anyone else have other suggestions? I may see if I can "age" the guard a little and take just a little of the new white look away. I don't think this vinyl will take it though.

( the neck has tape over the frets and is why they look orange ) ( the front and the back are the same color, it's just lighting, the front is actually what it looks like in person )

Dude, your not still thinking of relicing that are you?  Dont do it! it looks awesome as is.

just play it everyday and it will be reliced, or let that new kid of yours play with it for a week

Hey, isn't that MY neck I left at your house the other day? I need to come pick that up  :laughing7:

Getting close to done. Just lack one more part to make it complete.

The Fatback neck.. Oh man, rhapsody! It's like hanging on to the steering wheel of a 4X4. You feel everything and you are in command! I can't believe how good this feels, WOW!

:icon_biggrin: i'm excited to hear how much you like the fatback. hopefully mine will be shipped this upcoming week...

that thing looks awesome!

That's a good-looking fiddle. Then, one of the best-sounding Strats I ever had looked very similar to that. Brings back memories of "The One That Got Away".

I almost threw that in there.... :icon_biggrin:

I'd dress the thing in Bakelite.  The stuff from Retrospec Guitars has a worn look out of the box and that comfortably used vibe to it.  Then again, I guess that is my standard response for Strat's that are getting the slightly aged look.  I really like the pick up covers I got, they really just complete the look properly.

Hey Dangerous did you send the black or the chrome Floyd? Cause' I think I want the gold one now...  :icon_tongue:

Patrick, I hear you on the worn parts, they look great. I think I will let this guitar stand where it is at the moment. I didn't go for a polished finish though it did come out very smooth. The main purpose of all this was to have it at a comfort level where it was not a pristine instrument that I felt like I needed to "baby" it. I want to play the heck out of it, pass it around and play the heck out of it some more. Right now the guitar "feels" like I've had it while and my brain doesn't need to keep track every tiny scratch or ding.

I may try to "wear in" a few parts since I do enjoy the whole do it yourself process. The knobs that are on it right now are some that have been on just about every guitar I've owned in the past 20 years. I like the small font on them. I can't remember who makes them or if they are still available. I'm not a huge fan of the gold large font that comes on the ones today.

The guitar has already been seeing some good use. I've been tweaking it little by little. I know some people have really talked up the fatback neck here before but now I think everyone of them has understated the great feel of it.

I am trying to get some clips together. For the life of me I've never been able to record well at home. I've been through several methods of home recording with no success. Recently I picked up a Zoom H1. So far good recording still eludes me though I am determined to get it right. I think I play too loud or to close. Any tips from other users would be greatly appreciated. HELP! :redflag:
