Preferred lacquer masking tape?

In the planning stages of a build that I would like to paint a base color, then mask off stripes and spray an overcolor. I want nice crisp stripes and I don't want to leave tape residue on the base coat/stripes. Both colors will be metallic lacquer. What type of tapes do the UW pros use?

I don't know if it's too late, but if you still need some good masking tape you may want to look at 3M's 218 Fine Line Tape. I just used some a couple weeks ago to mask off some binding, and it works like a charm. Very solvent resistant, bends around curves easily, won't pull up the finish, and seals much better than typical paper tapes do. Good stuff, highly recommended. I got mine here, but there are a lot of suppliers to choose from.
