Odd, I listened to that Gibbons clip and I totally thought of The End by the Doors

Not familiar with it.

Then again I am not keen on The Doors but just listened to some of it and don't see the connection so just goes to show we hear or are reminded of things in different ways.

We all knew this right?

I saw that yesterday in the Guardian. But I fundamentally disagree. It is not the best guitar solo of all time or even a solo.

Seems perfectly cromulent to me, but then I've always thought that the first Funkadelic album was like Jimi Hendrix on drugs.  :turtle:

I've been reliving youth*, hanging out at Rum Runners and Barbarellas with Duran and these guys, Fashiøn,

Dated? Or merely period? The state of the art Zeus B. Held production on the albums is a wonder of cocaine of early 80s.

*although, not necessary my own.

I have been listening to quite a lot of bassists lately and related stuff. Some John Paul Jones for ya...

Wow 27 years...its funny when you come across stuff that is newer in an artists overall catalogue and realise wow is it that long...very different vibe to Zeppelin...

And this very different vibe to Rush...

I've been a big fan of Molly Tuttle for awhile now.  Recently I came across this:

My reaction (in addition to thinking 'that's some kick ass playing and singing') was - 'holy crap!  She's bald!  Is she in cemo?  does she have cancer?!??

Then I looked up the actual reason (she had an autoimmune disease when she was a kid and lost all her hair).  She used to wear wigs, but apparently in the last year or so she said "F*ck it!  I'm going out there bald!"  I gotta say, I like her even more now.

I caught Molly Tuttle playing with her family, The Tuttles (duh) at bluegrass shows in Palo Alto and Mountain View when she was only 15 and by golly it was clear she was going places even then.  I so admire her decision to let the alopecia just be what it is, especially as a musical performer, where appearance means a hell of a lot for a woman's opportunities.  Plus she sings like an angel and burns up the fretboard like a devil.

Fontella Bass, ladies and gentlemen.  Gloriously smooth voice. If the version of our forum software that permits embedding of Spotify links rolls around, I'll be totally here for it.

Steve Vai - "Frank"  always liked the 6/4 time of this tune.

Late to say it, but thanks for sharing this.  I miss Frank's voice and this piece in tribute and loving memory to him is gratifying to hear performed live.

Does it count if I'm half-watching half-listening to Get Back, the new Beatles doc? Because that's what's happening.
