Post what you're listening to!

Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Willie Nelson covering "Under Pressure".  Gorgeous.  Willie sounds his age.  I fear he cannot remain among us mortals much longer.  Here's hoping I'm wrong.  But he ain't getting any younger.

I saw the yeah yeahs yeahs in Brooklyn, that was a show!  They make it sound like Christmas song.

Ben Harper performs his entire new album on solo lap steel guitar.  It's rather spare, as one might expect for unaccompanied lap steel, but very enjoyable. I dig BH because what he lacks in technical skill he makes up for in sensitivity and authority on his instrument.  Particularly dug his work with the Blind Boys of Alabama.  Anyway, enjoy.

Back in February, a club owner posted video of a solo Ariel Posen played that has been going viral on the series of tubes, and it's truly a masterclass in solo-building.  If you're not already hip to AP, get on board, kids, he's a heck of a player.  Sings good, too.

But there's more!  Posen learned of the video and has provided the ACTUAL clinic on how he built that solo, and it's really cool.

A couple years ago in this very thread I posted a video of The Main Squeeze covering "Have A Cigar," noting that it is rare for a band to do an arguably better job than the original artist, or at least the best-known version - and asserting that they DID achieve, if not an improvement, at least a really solid attempt.  Welp, the Squeeze are back with a cover of a real war-horse of a tune, "While My Guitar Weeps," and they BURN IT DOWN.  Please enjoy.

This is the brand new project of one of my closest friends (and my first bandmate when I was 13 or so)

Enjoy!

A lot of folks look back on the heyday of Daryl Hall and John Oates as sort of the embodiment of 80's mainstream pop, and as such, they snicker up their sleeves at the duo.  But these white boys had the goods.  This live performance from 1976 proves it.

Charlie Pride did some magnificent music. RIP

Yes he did. At RCA the only artist that outsold him was Elvis....Last count Charlie had 60 top ten hits, 30 number 1 hits, and 3 Grammys. A member of the Opry, the Hall of Fame, and recently got the ACM's Lifetime Achievement Award. I still say he should of went into the HoF sooner than it happened, but then Gene Watson still isn't in the Hall and you don't find better singers than him......... :dontknow:

I'm not living in a war torn country, thank God, but it suits my mood ...

I've been to deserts, driven across them and have seen night skies like that, never been in a sand storm, but I've been in blizzards with white outs, and have seen lake effect snow come rolling in like a haboob.  Never saw one of those fat creatures like that but whatever ... the world is a humbling place.

Just listened to and watched IA Eklundhs brand new song (under the Freak Audio Lab ”label”).
He seems to be using a new kind of tremolo ”system” - one for each string - on one of his guitars. Seems that he can go both up and down with it
