Post what you're listening to!

Interesting tonal character to the recording overall. Very "present". My brother identified the guitar effect as an "Octavia", and I think he's right. Hadn't heard one in years, but it creates the right mood for that tune.

I gotta tell ya - I found the bass drum to be completely distracting.  Too bad - I kinda liked the rest of it.

Is this the Strauss song we are discussing? If so I agree with Cagey, distracting snare.

In addition, the video does not align with the snare hits. If the song followed what was done in the video, it would most likely be improved.

No need for the drummer to go over “attentive” on the snare when a fast on tempo Solo is executed. They are fighting for who owns the tempo

And FYI, we all know the bass player owns the tempo, sorry drummers LOL

Joe Ely, a certified genius songwriter and performer, with the unimpeachably awesome David Grissom on lead guitar.

NIght Swimming

I remember doing this ...

Next song to learn, it'll be good for garden parties in August.  September's coming soon, I'm pining for the moon, and what if there were two ... Night Swimming deserves a quiet night.

Starting the new year with some new-style old-school funk.  Tons of fun.  This is three-fourths of the usual Vulfpeck standard lineup with some additional participation from Mark Lettieri of Snarky Puppy, Sandra Crouch just going to TOWN on a tambourine, as well as others.  Joe Dart seems to be aligning himself as the second coming of Larry Graham by way of Rocco Prestia.  Good times.

Wow, what a groove! Smoking!

And they've all solved the neck dive problem by not having straps at all but having their instruments on stands :icon_thumright:

I know a lot of you folks don't like this type of music, but some Death-doom metal :headbang4: :icon_thumright:

Greg Koch & Josh Smith doing a creditable job on Albert King's "Drowning On Dry Land":  Smokin'.  The way a slow blues ought to be played.
