@Axkoa,  some good music to hear. Italian music that otherwise I probably never have heard of.

My dad gets a lot of really obscure music most people haven't heard about. Has really opened my eyes since I started listening to metal.

I've stumbled upon this INCREDIBLE young indonesian guitar player, Gavin Iedema

In a word: HOLY CR*P/F*CK/HOLE IN THE DONUT! (Take your pick) :o :o :o

Good for him. It's funny though he might be younger than me.

Most modern metal that's downtuned, Djentlike with vocals that are indistinguishable I personally can't listen to much.

But the ones you posted have, melody, good playing and so on.

Well, Verne's recent Jazzmaster build with its unique rhythm circuit wiring has sent me back to the Cramps, specifically to their 1984 Bad Music for Bad People. Every tune is great, but these two covers are definitely faves.

One of my few face-to-face meetings with greatness was one afternoon when I was at Real Guitars in San Francisco and Lux & Ivy happened by to see what they had in stock.  Totally dressed to the nines in full freakshow glory, and totally down-to-earth and friendly as could be.  What a loss.  R.I.P. Lux Interior.

They were indeed a very cool band – great sound, very humorous take on rockabilly and rock more generally speaking, outrageous (check out their performance of "Tear it up" from *Urgh! A Music War*) live shows – a very special group.

And speaking of the Cramps, I've often wondered if they were inspired by the following gentleman. This recording in particular foreshadows their sound and the lyrics to the song and overall attitude also seem like them...

I'm very fond of the Blues. All sorts. Presently smitten with this Lady who lives not far from me. Writes, sings and plays all the strings. Liking this album that's just out.  http://www.dianarein.com/index

Enjoying Gilad Hekselman, shown here with John Raymond and the Real Feels:

Amazing Grace, done very differently than I've ever heard it:

And attacking a Dave Holland piece, "Blues for CM" [Charlie Mingus]:

Oh man, does this song kick like a horse!  :headband:

and then the next song fills me with fear and dread and make me cry

Zappa in Barcelona, 1988.  Possibly his best band, depending, of course, on your own taste.  But these guys are tight.  Bobby Martin and Ike WIllis, both singing with all they got, and Zappa's own guitar playing at its most intelligible on, among other things, the "Bamboozled by Love" solo.

I usually can't stand those all-star finale blooz jams with a stage full of too many damn guitars, but this little item from the 2010 Crossroads festival is done up just right.  Chris Stainton turns in a tremendous piano solo, and as one astute Youtube commenter (can't believe I actually put together that phrase) noted, "Ladies and gentlemen, that is why you let Derek go last."  Just stellar.

Just got a notification of a new clip from the unbelievable Gavin Iedema:

I'm getting that record from ITunes now.

Stumbled across this one by chance and have been enjoying it. Love music from this period and the lute family of instruments generally speaking. More about this one, the theorbe, here.
