Pink guitar - Tele body

A pink guitar is running through my mind. And a Tele body is my favorite design.
I tried to assemble something with... Photoshop.
Do you think it's really that bad?
After trying many pickguards specially (shapes and colors), I think I have found my sweet lady.

Some details: the original Warmoth Thinline design (that I like) doesn't allow the forearm contour so I used the standard Tele body; I like to be able to access the wiring without disassembling everything in case of testing different connections/resistors etc so I put a standard Tele plate; Schaller 475 bridge; GFS Retrotron humbucker and mini-humbucker

I have come very close to doing a shell pink Tele or Strat on many occasions...

I would reconsider those knobs. But that's a minor detail. Approved!

+1 on the knobs. Either chrome dome (standard Tele) or maybe something from Q-Parts.

I think speed knobs work on the thinline pickguard, but on a tele control plate traditional knobs would look better.

BTW, i'm not quite certain what is intentional and what is artifact of the collage creation. Can you elaborate on the pickguard/control plate combo?

Just a heads up, I've contacted Warmoth before about mixing Thinline routing (both types) with solid or chambered Tele bodies (like you, to get the forearm cut) and they've said they could do it but that there would be an upcharge ($45, as I recall). Make sure you e-mail them and double-check your plans before you order.

Also, the pickups: are you just after the Filtertron look, or do you want the tone, too? Because I've had experience with the GFS versions and can report that they're not really made like Filtertrons, they're just regular humbuckers with H-gate covers slapped on. Great if you want normal tone and the look, useless if you want the Filtertron tone.

I couldn't find it - but somewhere either on this forum or in the customer guitar picture section on the Warmoth board a guy built a double bound tele in this color that was amazing.

If you like Pink I'd say go for it!

Haven't played with them in person,  and not really up on the filtertron sound, but what I heard of the liverpools was 1) quite scrumptious, and 2) not really like a humbucker at all (aside from not humming)

I'm certainly considering them strongly in any "hum free large aperture single coil" type role in the future.

About the pickups: my idea is the Liverpool bridge and the mini-Nashville neck. I know they are not Filtertron tone type. I'd like a kind of tone closer to P90/single coil/Paf (and no hum). I think they can be a good compromise, and as far as I read and heard from the web, these models are appreciated. I never tried them anyway. I admit, I like the price and the look, too. Your description of tone seems to fit my goal.

You're right about the knobs. Maybe chrome knobs are more "normal", but I like the "numbers" on the knobs (unlike the guitar I have now, even if maybe I'll never look at them, just "hearing" the position). Well, I can try other solutions.

I wrote Warmoth, but they said that the Thinline body cannot have the contours (and they added "if not they would be included in the Builder"). Ok, I can use the standard Telecaster replacement body (I looked at the 7/8 body too, but no F-hole there). The neck could be a 24-3/4" conversion with PauFerro fingerboard, and stainless frets.

About the pickguard I intend to get a standard Thinline pickguard and cut it to give place to the standard Tele plate (for the standard switch, tone and volume pots). I like the design of the bigger Thinline pickguard (even more because of the solid color painting), but I prefer to have the standard plate too for quick access to the circuit.
What I don't know is if the Warmoth's '72 Thinline pickguard will fit the Warmoth standard Telecaster body, or if I should start from a blank sheet. From Warmoth PDFs it seems to me that the neck joint areas are the same.

Anyway, I don't think I'll start this building very soon, so I still have some time to think about many details.

I haven't used them myself, but I hear tell that the Dimarzio Humbucker from Hell packs a nice bright single-coil-ish sound, without so much of the typical humbucker mud. Obviously the GFS price is superior, and if you can get what you need from them, you should - but I just thought I'd throw it out there in case you hadn't thought of the option.

Another option is to ask if they can do a top + rear route for the body you want - best of both worlds (if you don't mind the cover on the back).
