Pickup wiring question

I am wiring 3 single coils in a strat and I am using some pickups from another build, But the wires were cut too short from the previous build and I need them longer to work with my current one. so basically can I get away with just splicing two wires together to make them longer or do I need to just redo the whole thing? Also, if I do splice, is it ok to use a smaller gauge like 24?

Yep, 24 is fine, and yes, just splice them.
