Pete Townsend's extra knob

Pete's Strat is basically a production Fender Clapton model with Lace Sensor pickups and mid-boost.  He added a Fishman Powerbridge with a preamp which runs off the same battery as the mid-booster.  That extra knob attenuates the Powerbridge preamp.

It was a whole lot better than the alternative of running some rapper or teen pop singer out there.

I was very disappointed in that show. its the exact same feeling i had after the Stones' halftime show some 3 or 4 years ago.  :sad1:

I cut them guys a lot of slack.  Sound logistics for a setup that quick are a nightmare, and they've been doing this forever.  Only 2 of them are still kicking, but if you ain't got it no more, don't try.  Both of their singing voices are horrid now.

I thought it was gonna be much worse.  I was embarrassed for them in advance of their performance;  this gig was way, way beneath them--bottom of the heap.  Seems like they pulled it off as best as can be expected;  considering the laughable circumstances and the absence of half the band.  The Geezers Are Alright!

I thought they sucked bigtime, and I'm a who fan, Roger can't sing anymore, and most of the guitar was the tele player in the back, Pete can't play guitar anymore

The best player in the band is kieth moon and he's dead.    carry on....

Fifteen seconds in I thought, "Roger Daltrey has turned into Tom Jones & Pete Townsend is channeling Mr. Magoo..." Didn't Roger Daltrey used to be a big guy? He's all shrunk up. They didn't play "My Generation" - "I hope I die before I get old." Right after the line in "Won't Get Fooled Again" - "pick up my guitar and play" - Pete made some weird random blatty noise that didn't seem to have anything to do with the song? I wish I hadn't seen that, but I was a guest and obligated to watch. I guess we got fooled again.

It's been 20 years since I kissed off the present-era Who.

The Kids Are Alright was the movie for my first date. I wore out Live At Leeds. Twice.

1989, Foxboro Stadium. I spent most of the show watching the TV screen and thinking that Roger Daltrey's shirt probably cost 5x what my ticket did.

I left early, before they played "Won't Get Fooled Again."

Because I wanted to keep listening to it on the Kids Are Alright soundtrack, and I knew if I heard it done that night I'd never go near it again.

It's kind of the same reason I didn't get my pants in a twist to see Van Halen's last tour. I'd walk back to the US from Hong Kong to see Van Halen in 1981.

All that said, I am looking forward to Jeff Beck on March 22 and I know I'll have a great time.

As a HUGE fan of early Who music..."hope I die before I get old" should have been heeded by the remaining half of the band!
