Pedal Conversion - Help Needed

A local chain store was having their annual factory blowout, and I got hold of a Boogie Accelerator pedal (originally for the Revolver rotating speaker) for HK$300 (about US$35).

The Boogie is a CC (continuous controller) with a single jack in the front, and an LED on the side, but the basic aluminum housing is exactly like the Ernie Ball, with the side-mounted switch, no doubt made in the same factory.

It's black, too!

I want to turn it into a volume pedal. I dismounted the front, and the input plate (with Mesa/Boogie)  was just a cover behind which was the 5-hole plate in much heavier stock.

I figure I need to swap out the pot; it's marked

KA1041R32
100K LT
TYPE K
PEC
MADE in CANADA

But it is a 3-lug pot, so I may just try it and see if it works; I don't much care for the idea of messing with the string and spring for the pedal...

Any idea what I can use the switch for, and how to wire it?

Any suggestions/advice would be very welcome, since I have never done something like this.

Thanks!

Do you want a passive or active volume pedal?  A 100K pot is too small for a passive pedal, but could work for an active one

Nice find.  It's pretty straight forward to convert it to a volume pedal.
I'd use a 500K analog pot, and two open frame swichcraft style jacks.  toss the boogie trim plate and mount the two jacks to two of the available holes on the back plate.  Wire the pot so that the inner lug is attached to the output jack, one of the outer lugs is attached to the input, and the other lug is attached to the ground.

I'd ignore the switch and LED.  But that's just me.

Have fun,

Thanks for the replies!

I've disassembled the whole thing and ordered a replacement volume pot from EB. The switch can be used for a lot of different things, but I've got to decide what! On their volume pedals, its used for a tuner out, which I suppose is good, but it can also be wired for channel switching, FX loops, etc., which is probably more of what I'll use it for.

The Boogie plate is already on the scrap heap. I was very happy to discover the 5-hole factory plate underneath it.Less work (and less logo).

I think I'll head back there today and see what kind of junk they have now; the stock gets refreshed practically every 10 minutes. I could have bought a NOS EVH Charvel Art Series  Bumble Bee (black and yellow) for about US$1250. If it's still there, and cheaper, I may invest in it.

But I'd rather buy more weird DIY stuff!!!
