Building two guitars per this thread: http://www.unofficialwarmoth.com/index.php?topic=12254.msg167224#msg167224

The flame neck for the Billy Corgan strat arrived today.  Here's some pics.  I've got almost all the parts I need for this build now except for the body.  Which should arrive in 1-2 weeks.  In the meantime, I'm going to work on applying a logo to the headstock.  Really digging the wizard profile.

no i do not. the colors attracted my eyes  :laughing7:

do you compete in yo-yoing or something?

I'm no where near good enough to compete.  As an example of what that means, see what one of the local Seattle guys can do:

The second neck arrived today.  I'm really digging the vintage tint.  It's more yellow than the tint color on my Mustang bass neck.  Here's some pics.  I chose a background more appropriate to to this crowd.  :)

Thanks for the compliment.

Frets are not gold, they are just covered in the finish that bleeds over all Warmoth frets on maple fretboards.  After the frets are leveled, that finish will be silver.

no matter how many times i see people use yo-yo's i just cant help but think how funny it would be if they smacked themselves right in the face after being a smart arse.  :evil4:

Yeh, smackin yourself in the sack with a YoYo, football, golfball, basketball etc... never gets old

I'm curious about that Randall power amp. What does the MIDI interface do? I mean, it's a power amp - besides volume/gain, what parameters would you control?

bit of a complete guess, but i think the midi is for channel switching, and i assume it will have a thru so you can connect it to other devices. maybe have 2 preamps with one slightly overdriven and the other clean, or something like this.

Nice necks you ahve got there.

Like the flaming on that first neck, does it have a finish on it too?

Re: Randall, how do you like the RT2/50? And do you have those sound module preamps in the preamp stage?

Yeah, both necks are finished.  I'm putting F decals on both of them and the finish work is almost done there.  Goal is to assemble the flame neck + flame body and Corgan pickups strat this weekend and drop it off with the Luthier.  Hopefully the turnaround time on a setup and leveling isn't that long.

I love my Randall amp.  As others have noted, the midi is for channel switching.  It's got a 4 way footswitch to choose which channel is active.  The midi can also be fed from a PC so you could automate channel switching during re-amping.  The RT 2/50 has two different types of output tubes (hence the two in  2/50) and you can select which preamp channel uses which output section.  It's surprising how different they sound.  As for preamp channels, I've got the blackface, top boost, brown and recto.  As for what they sound like, think fender, vox, marshall and mesa.  I love the fender clean sound.  Like the mesa crunch and vox mid-gain sound.  I'm not a fan of the marshall sound at all though.  I need to sell that module and swap out for something else.  Maybe the plexi module.

I hear you man, i would agree with most modern marshall amps. But i think the compressed power valve distortion sounded mean on alot of pop tunes in the 80's
