Well it’s not that you ‘can’t’ dye mahogany, but a dark wood like that just won’t show the right color.

Got it. I was wondering if there was some reason why it can't be done that I didn't know.

I tried a few experiments and the blue just never shows up. Looks dirty.

I was planning an upcoming build with a dyed mahogany back. I can see how it might look muddy. Luckily, I want it to be dark to highlight a light natural masked binding I’m planning. I’ll do some tests first.

The tinted lacquer works awesome. I’m supper impressed, went ahead and sprayed the Ash back that I already dyed so it would match the neck.

LOL, you might beat me, I don’t even have any hardware yet…..

I don't have a spray area I can use, so I have been using all wipe on finishes.
