I have looked and haven't found that anyone makes a pickup ring to go around a soapbar P-90, preferably gold. I know they aren't supposed to have one. Does anyone know where to get one or where one could be made?
merci beaucoup

P90's never had rings... they were either surface mount (dogear) or inset (soapbar) mount.

There is a thing called a "goof ring", that was sometimes used to cover a crappy route for a P90.  These are very few, very far between and demand high grade collectors prices.

I guess I'd like to have a goof ring made - that would be appropriate. The rest of my hardware will be gold and I thought a gold ring would tie it all together.

That's about the only type of P90 ring I have heard about too..

Most of us are used to seeing P90s installed without rings, so if do get a set of rings, it may look odd to quite a few players.

If all else fails, maybe find someone who can make a set for you and have them gold plated? Sorry I can't be much help in your enquiry.

Actually it was helpful. It may actually look dumb but in my quest for a super custom one of a kind I thought it would work. I'm looking for the matt black pickup cover with the gold ring appearance. Soapbar covers are glossy so it may be impossible. Just thought I'd ask. Thanks for your help.

Here's a thought...
Try spraying some matte clearcoats on the pickup cover, and find some gold screws. I think that will look cool.

To some of us, those metal surround rings for Strat pickups look weird too.

But still, if you really wnat to proceed with it, there's nothing stoppoing you from being resourceful & getting a set made up to your specs, if you can find someoen to do the work for you (or do it yourself if you have the trade skills etc.)  :dontknow: .

i would take a shot at making them but i don't know where to get 'em plated. PM me if you want to work something out.

Thanks. This is the look I'm going for without the bridge. Just thin rings should look cool.

are these those weird p-90 look alike pickups that get pickguard mounted that i've seen on some kind of foreign guitar? or is this purely a cosmetic thing?
just wondering.

Purely a cosmetic thing for me. The guitar pictured was taken from the Schaller website advertising their bridge and is a European custom guitar. I just liked the overall look of the pickups with mounting. I'm getting Kinman P-90s for my Warmoth build.
