Beautiful, BEAUTIFUL axe (although I liked the matching trem/cavity cover better than the spalted ones, but that's just me. I wonder if W will do a spalted carved top tele - that may be the next guitar I build (after the Gecko 5, lol, not even finished my first strat yet and I am an ADDICT)
I don't know, honestly I've never seen a carved top spalt. You might could ask them.... :dontknow:

I came across some spalted geetars that appear to be carved tops.  Its really hard to tell from these crummy pics, but it does look like there is some curvature going on.
Not saying that the Big W would be willing to make; just that it might be possible.
However, I still like Mr. Spalty much mo' betta...

Yip, those are carved tops. I'd forgot about those Qucksilver guitars from Mr. Grouchy...

No Ed Roman allowed.

Yea, I am hearin' ya.  I am certainly no fan of the man.  I actually just stumbled across his web site last week for the first time.  Never heard of the man before.
I could tell by his web site that he must be a bit of a shyster...  Then I made the mistake of calling him to ask a couple questions...  Damn, two minutes is more than I could take.
Anyway, I would never do business with the man.  My only point was that it seemed like a carved tele was a possibility.

What am I missing about this Ed Roman guy?  You nerds always reference him like he's part child molester and part irs agent.  What's the deal?

Just check out his website.  He seems like the Earl Shives of the guitar world...

He's a cocky, arrogant pick the guitar world loves to beat up on. And it seems he does deserve some of it. But if you get past that, he's not as stupid as people make him out to be when it comes to building guitars. He was the first to say the PRS guitars could use more mass at the neck joint to improve sustain. Oddly enough, years after he said that, PRS guitars adopted the big heel on current production guitars. PRS claiming it was due to the new CNC machining process they had to go to. From what I can tell, there's nothing related to CNC work that requires that bigger heel.

But now he removes all that big heal:

Yes, because a lot of players don't like it, gets in the way. If you do a little more research on it, he actually added mass differently on the PRS guitars he modified.

Like what? I used to search his page long years ago and don't remember much, I took a research now trying something "adding mass" alike and find nothing...

Sorry I read enterely both articles and couldn't spot where he says the add mass to these PRS he changes the neck...

I guess you're talking about his "Deep Set Neck Tenon"... What is a good idea, in deed, I like deeeeeeeeep set neck as well as neck-through-body...

Just would like to add that I read some guys who took that "Heel removal" and find that the guitar lost some "mass" on the tone...
And to clear things, I'm not saying *NOW ON THIS THREAD* he's idiot, etc nothing... just that you said about he asked for more mass on the neck joint years ago and as I had never heard it before and remembered that Heel from Hell thing and posted here, what would be really in the reverse way of what he have said in the past...
