Old Spalty

Beautiful, BEAUTIFUL axe (although I liked the matching trem/cavity cover better than the spalted ones, but that's just me. I wonder if W will do a spalted carved top tele - that may be the next guitar I build (after the Gecko 5, lol, not even finished my first strat yet and I am an ADDICT)
I don't know, honestly I've never seen a carved top spalt. You might could ask them.... :dontknow:

I think with spalt the structural integrity might not be there for a thick carved top, but man would that be sweet!
It would most definitely depend on the particular piece of wood. Mine luckily was quite strong and not very spongy, surprisingly it's quite solid compaired to what most spalted maple pieces I've seen. But a carved top would be much thicker, so really I don't see why it wouldn't be possible, and yes it would be sweet, an LP would be just fantabulous. :headbang1:

Exactly... and you couldn't buy a stabilized one from Larry at Gallery Hardwoods because it would weight a ton and he wouldn't do it for you...

How I know it?? :laughing7:

How long do the wooden picks last?
I've been using the one I made for about a year now and it shows very little if any wear....I guess really it all depends on how hard the wood is.... :dontknow:
