I've always wanted a Brownface Concert  :)

There are plenty of changes.  On many amps, biasing methods changed, plate voltages changed, tone stacks changed, feedback loops changed, etc.... rectifiers... blah blah blah
 
Even if you can copy a Ma--ha-- distorto sound with a pedal, it always sounds better when it goes through a tube amp.  I understand the concept behind a modeling amp, but I like the sound I like.  Clean, dirty, and all of the adjectives in between, I have found that tube amps just sound better to my ears.  I guess the real trick is knowing what you like.  Then you can get all into making tube amps and, well ask CB about that...
