Official Start Of My Build?

You may consider today to be the official start date of my VIP build.
Not ordering the body and neck yet, but a die cut logo out of polished aluminum, of my little "RT" thing that I designed, to go on the headstock. Am I crazy for getting a cosmetic thing before the actual guitar? Maybe, maybe not. But whatever the case may be, I'm placing the order (Frets On The Net).

The thing that sucks, is if I was in the US, I would be able to order the body, neck and bridge right now... But since I'm in Canada, I have to pile on taxes, shipping, and the exchange, which is ridiculous right now...  :-\

Understood, I'm in the UK and we have a similar situation. We probably have more import taxes to pay.

Recently the value of the pound to the USD went down. Even more odd is there is no obvious reason for it.

Same deal here in Canada.  The US buck and Canadian loonie used to trade at parity, but now the loonie is at 70 cents per USD!  Glad I built all my guitars in years past...

I think that the USD is just riding high at the moment.  I guess the world likes the idea of The Donald becoming president  :icon_biggrin:

Not really. But, don't worry; it won't last. It's an election year and they're playing games with the numbers to make things look much better than they are. For instance, anybody that believes the unemployment rate is currently 5% is either stoned out their gourd, profoundly retarded or deaf, dumb and blind. Same with inflation. Currently reported at .7%? Gimme a break. On and on.

I agree, we're all crazy, that's a good thing. I've "started" my second build before finishing my first, and I started it with a pickguard. I am literally building the guitar around it. :laughing7:

I agree, I was playing around with it, considering trapezoids or ovals, but I kept coming back to the swan. I love that look.

I May be ordering a truss rod cover from FOTN, even though I don't even have my RT cutout yet... I came up with this design, and I'm in love.

Frets On The Net (his name is Dave) look him up! He does custom engraving on truss rod covers and control plates, and i ordered an adhesive backed aluminum cutout to go on my headstock.
