Neck Pics for the Purple Tilt Back Tele:

I see from the pics that you were able to get the "Made in USA" part of the headstock emblem to adhere. I wonder if there's some sort of trick to that? I don't know how many of those things I've put on, but have only ever got one where that part transfered properly. I've gone slow, used a razor to carefully place the letters back down if they start to come up, left the thing in place before trying to pull the top release paper so the attachment glue would have time to bond to the headstock... no matter what I do, the letters don't want to stick. Do I need to use heat or something? More pressure? Less?

It's not a huge issue - the "Warmoth" part always comes out ok, but so few things are made in the US anymore it would be nice to identify those that are, especially when they're such fine things.

I just put the logo on mine yesterday, and had problems with the MADE IN USA portion too, particularly the S, I, D and E. The other letters transferred fine.

What I did was to remove the backing very slowly, and if the letters lifted off, paste it back slightly and keep rubbing the letter to encourage it to adhere to the surface. Eventually, and with a lot of patience, they should all transfer.

While none of the letters dropped off on my other neck, I'm not too sure about this one. I recall I only had problem with one of the letters previously. It may be that the adhesion is different for different necks, depending on the surface. Could be that oilier woods that are unfinished create more problems with adhesion compared to finished gloss surfaces.

No worries. I will not disappoint!

I have had the same problem. Those letters are so tiny, that I don't see how they can get enough adhesive on them to stick to anything. I have had to go very, very slowly. Just like "mero" said,  'if the letters lifted off, paste it back slightly and keep rubbing the letter to encourage it to adhere to the surface.' Another problem that I had was during a re-string, I was wiping down the headstock, and a couple of those letters came off then! Now one of my Warmoths is 'MAD  IN US '. I wonder if a quick and light spray with some sort of clear after the logo is applied would remedy this. Any thoughts?

As far as application techniques, I have heard several different ideas. One method was not to rub the decal too hard before trying to peel it off. The theory behind this was that the adhesive on those small letters could be squished out the sides with excessive rubbing. I haven't tried that yet. I was taking a pencil top eraser and rubbing them with that, but I always had problems with them coming up. I have also heard to apply a little heat with a blow dryer or heat gun, but again, I have not tried this.

For this Purple one, and I can hear the laughter already, once my patience wore thin enough, I had my wife do it. There, I said it. Out loud. But that is what I did. She seems to have the hands of a surgeon when it comes to this. I hve seen her, with mine own eyes, oick up the letter 'I' with a pair of tweezers and place it perfectly where it goes. DUDE!!!! Then we take the smooth side of the paper and press them down.

Who has other methods that work? Hmmmmm?

I wouldn't want to shoot any clear over the letters. It would wreck the mirror-like finish of the embossing, as well as any finish you might have on the headstock. And if it was a raw headstock, anything over that wouldn't look right, either.

I think next time I'm going to try using a hair dryer on it. Just a touch, to warm up whatever adhesive is on that top piece of release paper so it doesn't want to pull the letters back off the surface they're supposed to stick to. Worst thing that can happen is the letters still don't stick to the headstock as well as the release paper, so they don't get applied. Won't be any different than the results I'm getting now.
