Non-Warmoth Gibson "Coppertop" LP

A couple people asked to see a pic of this guitar, so here it is in progress.

This is a Gibson Les Paul LPJ...those cheaper ones with the thin finish and the strange plastic pickup covers. Other than than, they're really good Les Pauls and sound every bit as good as my others (but I think I like the 57 pickups better than the 498s).

Anyway, this is faux-metal finish I've been applying to my Warmoth builds lately. The LPJ was a perfect candidate. As you can see, I didn't even have to remove the electronics, because all I had to do was lightly sand the top. I left the back and sides the original cherry color.

The rivets are set into the guitar about a quarter inch so they won't fall off. The grooves between each "sheet" of metal is carved directly into the maple top, but they're less than 1/16".

I'll post more pics when it's finished.

Just acrylic paint from the hobby store. Forget the brand. Finished with several coats of lacquer.
