Very cool, I've been thinking in do it for a while... But I always think a archtop would be nicier :(

Me too but I figure I should start out easy, um easier.

:laughing7:

If I were you, would buy some more clamps tomorrow... on the binding and other parts you'll need many of them!

Great project!!! I have been thinking about it too... but I don't have any clamps at all :)

Did you order this from Martin, or is this the one you see in the Stewmac magazine?

Its a good thing you put the paint brush on top of those bricks for the extra weight  :laughing7:

So you bought the kit from stew mac?

How are the instructions? Detailed?

What model of kit?  How Much? How do you plan to finish it?

Wow, looks like she will be a beauty. I always wanted to do something like this. I would go with French polish/Shellac. its a lot of work, butI have used it to finish cabinets, and it always comes out great.

I have no Idea where it was purchased, I received it as a gift...

The Martin instructions were written in the 60's and assume you already know how to do everything. for example "now glue the ribbon lining on" ? um.... How?... um....Where?
Because the Martin instructions were so unless I googled Martin guitar kit ins. and found the Stewmac instructions http://www.stewmac.com/freeinfo/i-5295/i-5295.pdf

I will cross the finish bridge when I get to it... Maybe nitro on the body and tru-oil on the neck? but not really sure..

Today I followed the stewmac instructions and made a body mold (internal jig) and a body clamp (yolk) to keep the body in a stable position until the top is seated. Then I installed the ribbon lining.
Wow that one line of text took me all day to do... I guess I move slow.. I'm just trying to make sure everything is good and square..
