No finish on the back of a body?

Please excuse me if I've done something wrong, but I'm new around here.

Now, I'm looking to order a Jazzmaster style body with a 2-piece Indian Rosewood back and then possibly a maple or spruce top. My problem is I want the look of a burst on the guitar, but at the same time I want the resonance of an unfinished body. Is it possible to have the top finished but leave the rosewood back completely raw?

Thanks for the help!

clean line option and omit the gloss?  :dontknow:

thats my thought. if they can tape off the body for a clean line, couldn't they just tape off the back and sides and just shoot a top? you might be required to get binding on it if they can do it. otherwise i don't know how they could go from a gloss top to a clean back without a really obvious line that screams "this is where the finish stops!"
