I think it also has to do with the specificity of the build. We usually build these guitars with what we had in mind and if someone comes along that wants the EXACT same thing, then you've got a sale. Why is it that there are so many different Fender Strats out there that are so close in nature but have a tweak here or there? Same with the other major manufacturers.
