New VIP Warmoth in washed Blue Dye

Thanks man.  I wasn't either until I saw this one.  It's got a CBS neck for that reason.  I want to get the tuners and bridge first so I can string it up and feel that rosewood neck.

Alex,

I'd bet that was a thrill to be on John Boy and Billy.  How'd that get set up?  I don't remember if your dad ever said when he posted the audio from it.

Yeah it was. I just sent in a letter and a CD. They used it for "The Gong Show." I wasn't one of the ridiculous clips though. For that particular skit they use 2 completely stupid things that someone sends in, and 1 "good" one. (Though I was 11 at the time, and it's painful to hear that recording now....  :sad1: )

Thanks!

Max, I'm in Texas.

Yeah, I have left them both completely naked.  I have toyed around with some ideas for logos, but haven't put anything on either one yet.  There was a guy here who had a trophy shop use a laser engraver to burn a logo in that he said worked really well.  If I do something, that will probably be what I do.  If I am remembering correctly they can leave it black or fill it with gold or silver.

The blue one is my newer one.  I also have a tele that is still a body and neck that I'll post below.

I think most of my suggestions to your dad were things I ran across here.  This is a great board to go to for gear suggestions and info.  There's several working musicians, some builders, and just some kickass players.  The guy who's guitar is at the top right of the page does some great finishing work.  I believe that guitar is his that he finished personally.

Dude, that is one sweet ass tele, probably the sweetest I've seen in a while.... :icon_thumright:

I've had it for about 18 months now.  I should have it finished around Christmas though.  It's getting Rio Grand BBQ/TX HBs at the neck and Bridge and a Fat Bastard in the middle.

I'm going all out on that one.  Finishing it is going to be north of $900 with more than half going to the pickups.  That's not to say I cheaped stuff on the other two, but what I wanted on those was a lot less expensive.  This one is essentially going to be the spared no expense guitar.

I was looking at an amp and ultimately changed my mind.  It was going to take a long time to come up with the money and still is, but I have increased resolve to finish this one.
