Damn! That's an expensive little rascal, isn't it?

But, you can't fool me. A good tool is a wonderful thing, but the talent is all yours. I know I wouldn't be doing what you do if I had 100 Razortip units with every accessory under the sun.

Accessory!!?! We don' need no stinkin' accessory!!
(Thanks, Kevin, and Tony, I'm absolutely honored!)

As an owner of an instrument with Greg's fine work, I can tell you first hand, I not only get the joy of viewing this work, but I can feel it with tactile specificity under the lacquer finish.  If you are ever interested in commissioning him to do a body for you, don't hesitate, these are one of a kind works of art that are very, very personal to him and he pours his heart into it.  I am honored to own an instrument that displays his heart, and I do get complements when I play this guitar on my church worship team (yes, a 7 string in church...)

Exactly! Talent is exclusive of the tools it uses to create. I have a bunch of great guitars, but that don't make me Eric Clapton. Beautiful work Greg, as always!  :icon_thumright:

The center accent really makes it complete. I'm patiently waiting itching to see what you do with that.

Your smoke alarms must go through batteries like they're free  :icon_biggrin:

Private eyeeeees are watching youuuuuu. Or is it moar like, Starling eyes (or whatever bird rhymes and fits the syllables of private). Also with the eyes added the beaks now look like a handlebar mustache and it rules!

How did you apply the finish? It looks flawless. If you have time, I'd really like to know about your process from start to finish.

Actually, it has no finish on it yet...so far, I've applied a mix of aniline dyes for the 'background',
and waterproof markers and paint markers for the detailed color stuff. From there, I seal with several coats of spray shellac (I don't grain fill because I love the texture of the wood on my
finished guitars), and finally 3-6 coats of wipe on poly. Mine is a real one room studio/work space-
no spray booth or anything that can't be done by hand on a workbench. My finishes are
certainly NOT the glassy perfection that Warmoth produces, but they're clearly 'hand made', and
they are mine, for good or ill...

I can tell you first hand, "feeling" the work with the tactile sensitivity of your fingers is so cool.  When you look closely, anywhere there is color, that color still allows you to see the wood grain underneath, so doing this on a flame body or quilt does not lose any detail because of the dyes.
