thats a sleeper if i've ever seen one :headbang1: looks like a country twanger, but i bet it would do high gain metal and love it

awesome guitar!

OK, I'll post some sound clips if you all promise not to laugh...

I'm a blues player, and I got those EMGs a while ago on a lark. I must say, I like the bridge pickup, but the neck pickup is absolutely phenomenal. Let me record a couple now...

sounds good! in both positions. i'm still not sure why EMGs have a bad rep when it comes to clean tones.

Because people don't know how to use 'em. They whack them in high-gain amps with the mids at 0 then bitch when they sound sterile distorted and empty clean. 'Course they're usually chucked in some low-end Indonesian-made plywood guitar too, which doesn't help.

But yeah, that neck clean sounds great - handy, since that is the main thing I'll be using on mine when I'm done. Thanks for the clips, that's really helped me settle on my own build. That's a great sounding piece of wood you've got there!

Glad I can be of some use... In listening to that again, the overbending is apparent. It's actually very valuable to hear yourself on tape. Gives you some perspective on things that it's hard to hear live.

But yes, that guitar kicks ass.

Very nice!~

That first picture had me thinking it was a black or silver pearl pickguard.

I couldn't help to think that combination there, as it looks in the picture, would be GREAT as an Esquire.

Yes, I saw 'Blue' while I was waiting for my body build from Warmoth to arrive. Since it's the closest in the gallery, I used it for inspiration and to help my patience as I waited and waited...

'Blue' is a stunner.  :rock-on:

You did well.  :headbang:

Hey, Grabby, this is a great looking axe.  Dunno how I missed it so many months back.  Did you source your gold hardware from Warmoth, or elsewhere?

Bagman

:headbang1:

Thanks bagman.

All parts were from Warmoth, but I have changed out the saddles on that bridge to compensated barrels.

Other than that, 100% W!

Yeah - I love my EMG strat SA's, especially clean. A lot more bell and less harshness than anything else I've played. I like em distorted too, but EMG's into a nice clean fendery amp up loud is just a delightful treat.
