new jag build

I *finally* got a shipment notification from mastery, so the bridge and trem should show up soon!

The stain is just the 1 hour mixed poly from Home Depot, ebony and kona. I applied the ebony with paper towels, wiped as much off as I could then wiped it dry (to speed up the hour), then I sanded it by hand to remove most of the ebony not in the grain.

The kona I just wiped on and wiped it dry. I might sand it and do it again, but I also might just leave it because it looks pretty good and feels great.

Super nice choices on body, neck and stain color. This is going to be a killer when you're done.

Bridge & tremolo showed up last night from mastery, so I was able to do a mock of everything. I sure I hope I get some free time in the next few days to finish this up...

Not gonna lie, that brushed/satin finish on the Mastery hardware fits the aesthetic of the guitar beautifully IMO.

Yes I love it! I probably didn't look hard enough for brushed control plates. The switch is steel and not polished but not brushed. I know that there's only a limited demand for this stuff but I still wish it was easier to find / customize.

I found myself with some free time tonight and am attempting to finish up wiring. I had to do a little bit of routing to get the jazzmaster wiring harness to fit because the jazzmaster parts were all in general much bigger, even after switching out the roller plate for the jaguar one. It's not perfect, I freehanded these, but it will all be covered by the pickguard and shielded with copper soon.

wiring harness
The warmoth routing had these wonderful holes for the wires to go through, my harness was pre-wired and I most certainly wasn't going to resolder it. So I just routed through these.

upper control plate
The wiring for the rollers was pressing hard on the neck side and it just wouldn't sit flush so I widened this. Even after this though the switch was hitting the top end when I lined up the bridge holes in the pickguard with the insert, so I had to make a little room for that too.

selector switch
The switch was really deep and wide and just didn't fit even after routing through the wiring hole. In addition I had to remove a good amount of depth so that it could sit nicely and the switch wasn't touching anything.
