New guy, first build, neck just in... Now with body!!!

Sooo, the showcase neck I ordered came in yesterday. YEEEEE!!!!!! Maple on Maple, Gloss finish. It's so wonderful.

It's gonna be going on a 72 pbass body, swamp ash finished in butterscotch blonde. All black hardware and pickguard. When that stuff gets in of course.

And a big thanks to Doug for this beautiful neck plate that came in the day before.

Ordered the body from Warmoth. I'm still waiting on it but as soon as it comes it I'll get some pictures up of that as well.

So the pickup came in a week ahead of the estimated time the local music store I ordered it through gave me.  :hello2: Crazy excited. Now if I could only motivate UPS to do get on that bandwagon.

They are just the plain old active EMG P pickup. This will actually be my first bass with active pickups, figured I should try something new.

Okay guys, got home today and saw that lovely box. So after I opened like a rabid animal tearing through a garbage bag, this is what I have. I'm in Awe.

I have a question though, I dropped the pickups in the routing to see how they fit and noticed that they sat really deep. It was at that point that I realized the pickups didn't come with springs or foam tube things. Does anyone know where I can get springs and what kind should I get? Or should I just use the foam that came in the box that the pickups were in and cut it?

I think that kind of foam that comes with the pickups is too soft. You'd want something like this (see link), that is usually sold under the Fender brand name. Or you can get weatherstripping foam and cut it yourself like I did.

Thanks Patriot! I'll probably go buy some and cut it myself. I assume It just has to be a block and doesn't have to fit exactly in the routing hole, correct?
