Hello good people,

Just introducing myself as a new member to the forum. I'm in the process of building my first guitar, and have been lurking around this site for about 2 months now.

First off I appreciate that most everyone in answering questions has been very cool with the newbies that have had questions. I'm positive that I'll be asking more than my share on this first build.
Sooo the build is this.

1 Custom strat body made of northern ash. Just got it from the boys in the brown trucks today. Looks very cool and I will post some pics by this time tomorrow.
2 Warmouth neck won on an ebay shootout. Brand new never used. Goncalo w/ Ebony CBS style, jumbo SS frets routed for LSR or Earvana. I'm stoked on this one!
3 Pups...looking at the Lace hot golds today, but reserve the right to change my mind like many times already.lol
4 Finish? I'm leaning towards a Trans Root Beer Brown w/ some nice grain detail brought out from some sort of filler. This will be a place that much information or help, opinions will be
most welcome. My goal will be a deep clear gloss finish that I can say "I did It"!.
5 Hard tail bridge on this build so if anyone has some opinions on "the best way to go" on this I'm very open. Traditional or ??
6 Gold hardware some color of pearloid pickguard. Maybe Blue or Red on the Brown trans finish could look cool.

So that's it for now. I'll post some pics of the body tomorrow 1/21 and the neck when it's delivered.
Thanks it advance for having me, and I'm looking forward to knowing some of y'all. :rock-on:

Welcome to the Boards, nice score on the neck!

Is the body you have routed or drilled already?

Body has been routed for 3 singles. No Bridge or pickguard screws have been done as of yet. :guitaristgif:

As much as I love the TOM with string thru, for a Strat I'd go with a one of these Gotoh's

Thank you.
That's just the kind of knowlege I'm needing. I wan't "the best" but that can be many things to many people. The fingers are a bit rusty and I enjoy all styles of music, but for this build it's all about the blues.

Georgetown.
Like I said, I have been lurking about. Love the R6...short story me and my wife used to due club days out at Willow Springs in Cali. Hard to believe but I watched her go from an 02 F4i to an R1 in 5 months. Of course we have a four year old and one on the way as I write this so no more road racing. Oh well that's what Motocross is for. Old guys that do have to go to work on monday if the mortgage is going to get paid. Thus the build as guitars are much less painful on my knees.lol

Cool, there's a few tracks up here by me. I'm just a little NE of Dallas in Greenville. Since you're down in Georgetown, you might like to check out the ROT rally in June. Me and the wifey go every year, it's just a few miles from you in Austin..Wish I could get my wife into sportbikes, but I think she's scared of 'em... :laughing7:

As always, I am open to opinions or ideas. I'll be logged in tonight after work. Snuck these in on my lunch hour.

Great bod, if you want a vintage look I'd go with callaham based on other's preferences.

All together now, in Bb on a squire strat:

"I got the USC Bluuuues...USC blues baby, USC Bluesss...(insert basic blues noodle)....Every time we play the Bruins in Galen Center, we loooosseee!! (bah bah bum!)"

(Sorry, recent UCLA grad. couldn't stop myself)

LMAO :toothy10: Got love for all SoCal's....Even those in that pretty powder blue....Congrats on being a UC grad. Not an easy thing to finish.  :guitaristgif:

have you decided on a finish?

Wellllll...  I'm leaning towards a Trans Root Beer brown with the grain having a nice dark filler to make it pop. Nitro for sure Buffed to a super hi gloss. (1st build so lets hope)

Thanks Max :icon_thumright: My bad, all that college and I still need spell check.. How's that Tele build coming along?

Well, I got it all strung up last night, but broke a string when I did a bend. High E. I might file down the string through holes in the bridge  a bit, since that's where it broke.
Waiting on my dimarzio pickup (already ordered, and backordered). And when it gets warmer, I'm going to paint it.
