Macassar fingerboard. 24.75" scale. Bought it to go on my chambered LP (still in the box from when Warmoth closed them out a while back).  :icon_biggrin:

Very nice, indeed! Had the same configuration in here not too long ago. Hated to let go of it.

Congrats, I saw it last week and I would have bought it if I could... Not that I needed it but it fitted my requirements ('59, 1-11/16", straight radius) and that's very rare for a showcase neck. I have an older body than yours (2010 Soloist) but I prefer LP's so I'm glad you took it and you managed to get an LP before they stopped production. I'm curious how it would look in a Les Paul. The combination is great, Goncalo Alves has a slick feel and Macassar is the king of fretboards!

Thanks, folks! I've been watching the showcase for a reverse headstock warhead for a few months. This one popped up and, though I'm not ready to start on the project, I found it too tempting to pass up.

Here's a snap of the likely pairing:

I've mentioned this a few times before, but you're new and of course not everybody reads every thing I write, but Strat headstocks can be re-cut to Warheads for a $45 adder. That's how I've gotten almost all of mine. They just don't make many speculative Warhead necks, but they make jillions of Strat necks. Opens up your choices pretty wide.

Doesn't do you any good at this stage of the game, but just for future reference...

Thanks for the info, Cagey. I suppose, in a way, I was using the lack of warheads as an excuse to keep checking back. ;-) You never know when you're going to find the makings for the next project. Or the one after that...

I know what you mean. I do that to some degree, but I have to watch myself as I see things that I just can't let go by. I've bought two necks in the last month that I really couldn't afford and have no application for, but they were just so beautiful I had to take them out of circulation  :icon_biggrin:

Or you can cut it yourself like I did from a strat......very easy.

Yeah, I keep threatening to buy a bandsaw for just such an occasion, but I haven't done it yet. What I want is too damned expensive, and in order to justify it I'd need several other expensive tools to support it.

My craftsman works well.  Not sure the price...was a gift.  I think it was around $300

Wow, that looks good. Works better than I would have imagined. Enjoy it.

I don't have a bandsaw, but I bought a 16" scroll saw for $75, and a router for $100.  A scroll saw is much slower, but can make inside cuts and much tighter radius cuts than a bandsaw. The general synopsis I 've seen is: If you can only get one, get the scroll saw. But if you have both you'll use the bandsaw 99% of the time.

However, if you're just making router templates in MDF, a scroll saw is fine. That's how I'd do it. Trace the headstock shape you want in 1/4 or 1/2" MDF. Cut it on the scroll saw, leaving enough room to sand to the line.  Once you have your pattern, cut the headstock leaving an 1/8th" or so and clean up with the router.

That sounds like a good plan. Hadn't considered a scroll saw + template + router.  I can see that working well.
