Birthday money provided me with something I'd been wanting for a little while!

Squier Classic Vibe 60s Jazz Bass (2011/2012 from the serial#)
Body: Basswood
Finish: Polyester Olympic White
Neck: 1-Piece Maple, Modern C-shaped
Fingerboard: Rosewood, 9.5" (241 mm)
Frets: 20, Vintage Style (I may have it refretted someday, but I'm only occasionally playing it)
Scale Length: 34" (864 mm)
Nut Width: 1.5" (38 mm)
Hardware: Chrome (seriously, did you expect me to get anything else?)
Tuning Keys: Open gear tuning machines
Bridge: HiMass, 4-saddle bridge with brass barrel saddles
Pickguard: 3-ply tortoise shell with thumbrest
Pickups: Custom Jazz Bass single-coil pickup (Alnico V)

I have a Squire Bass as well. Plays great too.
Had to build a Warmoth SG to match it.    :icon_biggrin:

So far it plays quite well.  I changed the strings to some EB Slinkys .45-1.05s and it already feels better. next step it to adjust intonation as I know it's off from the gauge change.
Only thing not jiving with me is that the side dots are half on the fretboard & half on the maple, making them hard to see.  I have to push a bit harder with the vintage frets too, which usually makes more buzzing than I'm used to acoustically.
Oddly enough (to me), the Jazz bass is lighter than both of my guitars.

I've heard that Squiers have come a long way in quality.

I've heard the same thing.  A friend of mine recently picked up a Squier Jazz 5 string for just under $400 CAD, and is really happy with it.
