well... lets put it the other way around.
Your wife has how many colors of nail polish, perfume, lipstick, high heels and handbags?
my girlfriend has, respectively, 12, 5, *don't know so many*, 5 and counting, 9.
my mum has approximately and respectively, 40, 25, 60, 120 and 15.
my sister has approximately and respectively 35, 15, 30, 40 and 20.
does that mean they're supermodels? does that mean they go down a (arbitrary) runway each week-end?
no; they like the colors, they (like to) collect. and the same with me.
Other example. A guy has a porsche, ferrari and a lambo. does that mean he wants to enter F3-racing? not necessarily.
So with me: I play for MY joy, MY pleasure. and I like to share my new guitars and amps with others, cause I figured that others might enjoy watching my gear as much as I enjoy watching other people's gear. I don't ask for clips, but if they're there, ok, thats fine. so since when did clips became mandatory with having (a lot of) gear? I think I missed that memo somewhere along the line (ps: marko, I haven't seen or heard a clip from you either).
I don't buy recording equipment, because I don't want to. Why should I buy something that I don't particularly need nor want? I don't want to buy a new fridge or a new couch, but I HAVE to; I need to keep my milk cool (sorry, sorry: beer) and I need a place to sit. I don't want to pay rent, but I need a place to keep my guitars, amps, cats, dvd's and whatnot sheltered. I don't want to buy a new bike, but I have to, I have no other means of transportation (its the cheapest and fastest within a radius of 15km, at least, in Amsterdam!).
So, once again, please come with good arguments why I should make some recordings. I already dismissed the 'because-we-wanna-hear-your-gear-and-wanna-laugh-at-how-lousy-you-play-with-so-much-expensive-shit' argument.
