New acoustic day

hey all,

I have been GASing for a nice steel string acoustic for quite some time now. My el cheapo Martin DX1-K was allright, but I wanted something solid and classic (eg. sitka-rosewood combo).
First I was eying the Taylor Fall Limited 4XX-Series from 2011, but none where available here. And I don't like shopping guitars like that via the internet. I'd like to see and play it in person first.
Then I found this super nice Martin in a shop nearby.
It's a Custom Shop Guitar to celebrate the shop's 30th anniversary, and it is limited to 7 Dreadnought guitars (mine) and 7 from the smaller OM body style.
I got (lucky) the last one from the Dreadnoughts.
Specs are: Solid East Indian Rosewood back and sides, solid Sitka spruce top, ebony fretboard, mahogany neck.
It's essentially a mixture between a D-28 and D-35.

Now I quit babbling and show you some pics (I know you want it)  :)

Very nice! I'll bet it sounds magical, too. Few things in the world sound as good as a high-quality acoustic.

Yes, it sounds really good already (and it will be even better in a few years, I guess). Its actually very balanced for a Dreadnought, not too boomy.

Beautiful wood on that one.  I'm happy to see that it doesn't include the D-35 style 3 piece back.  This guitar should give you a lifetime of musical pleasure, after which it should give your heirs a lifetime of musical pleasure.  Enjoy!

Hello toronado,

congrats to your new dreadnaught, it looks beautiful. Have a lot of fun with it.....

Taylors are lovely. Especially anything ended in 5. But I dislike the way they have tied wood choices to price points.

To some degree its understandable, but some of the choices of where in the product line some wood choices are placed is quite arbitrary. (Especially for Maple)

Nice catch!
