I am a huge fan of Neural DSP plug ins, the new John Mayer with his triple amp rig running at once (dumble, two rock and an old fender) is absolutely ridiculous! Playing through yamaha studio monitors and it is so so good. I could never get tone anywhere near this playing any amp at my house without pissing off the family and or neighbors. Incredible. Rebea Mossad's is also amazing but this one is the best so far. Cheers peeps.

I think I’m going to get it.

Which Yamaha monitors do you use? I need some as I’ve only got headphones and it’s getting old playing a DAW with them.

I've got several of the Neural plug-ins, and I used to them quite a lot, but these days I have moved to committing to a guitar sound and printing it right up front. I even print with effects sometimes too.

I find the whole recording process more fun, creative, and spontaneous when I commit to things early and work around them, as opposed to trying to leave every option open for later.

I would love to try out the Mayer one for sure, but I don't think I would find a use for it in my process.

Samezies, I approach my plugins the same as my Helix.

Tweak the presets agains backing tracks of drums, bass, and keys. Get them how I want with all levels effects settings, footswitch on/off settings, and then I never touch them again until I create a new one.

Once I hit record, a good take is kept and committed, then on to the next.

Truth be told, I only use the plugin at that point if I’m doing a dry track.

The way our band sound is set up, it’s like a Roland JC120. One side is straight up dry with the exception of some gating as needed. The other side gets effects on/off as needed, so the effected side is live played/recorded from my Helix board, and the dry side is straight into Helix Native. Both are committed as soon as the take is completed.
