neck inlays

i have always wanted a neck with fancy inlays but i always seem to order SS frets and better wood instead. i got a nice bonus from a long time client and decided to go all the way . just ordered a Padauk and ziricote Warmoth with moonglow supernovas and side dots and ivoroid binding. should be great on a bound body im waiting and waiting for. :turtle: I think my card actually cried a bit when i selected the unique choice quilt top.

You know those inlays will affect the tone, right?
Every other fret will sound either "bright", or "warm". Will make all the notes inconsistent.

I have had a couple of moments of feeling a little unwell when I hung up the phone but have learned the importance of going for what you actually, really want.The difference is just a little more time in either saving up or paying it off. I have a very small number of guitars since I went the partscaster route but I ended up feeling solid about everything that came to fruition because I went with what I felt most strongly about.

Given the time involved in planning and deciding, the money, the waiting for parts...my first project was at the end of 2011 and I am still smitten with the guitar that came of it. My weirdest sidetrack was when I realized that in the twenty years since I had stopped playing then started again it seemed about 1500 people now made pickups. Three months of sound samples finally yielded a choice I am still enthusiastic about.
