Last night we brought this little guy home. Now the pack is the right size again. Meet Parker, all 22 lbs of him. He's another Formosan Mountain Dog. Hailey is in love. Dillon the cat isn't the slightest bit impressed.

I'm jealous.. wife is holding firm on no new pets. I'm about to start leaving food out on the back porch and adopt whatever comes along, be it stray cat, possum, coyote or skunk.

Thanks, guys.

That's cool in itself. Often the best ones find you.

What's really crazy is that there are two stray cats in the area. One lives two houses down, but is free range. That one does camp out on our back deck, gets on our cars, but never wants anything to do with the people living here.

The other one has adopted our next door neighbors, who are NOT cat people to put it mildly, and have an elderly somewhat mean lab. The wife walks the dog in the mornings, and this cat will follow them on their walk. Usually a few steps behind. Sometimes waiting for them to get back to a comfortable distance ahead, other times even catching up with them. Between the dog and the husband, I would not be taking chances at this house if I were a cat, yet there she goes. Meanwhile, my boy and I are cat people and there's a cat vacancy at our house now. The boy especially wants a pet again. (Dad does too.)

I can identify with the situation of your neighbor's stray. They will adopt people or other animals on their own. My wife had a stray follow her every day when she went for a walk. Come to find out, the cat wasn't a stray but belonged to some people a few doors down. Eventually they moved and just gave her the cat because they knew it wasn't really theirs any more.
