I love Facebook blowing up with pictures from NAMM and getting all the emails from online retailers, manufacturers, and magazines about NAMM 2012.  But, it got me to wondering, does Warmoth have a presence at NAMM?  I mean, they're pretty much a direct retailer so it kind of doesn't make sense that they go to the National Association of Music Merchants semi-annual conventions.  But, Carvin is pretty much a direct retailer and they are always at NAMM.  Thoughts?

Warmoth was involved with the NAMM shows for many years but ceased attending long ago.  You are correct that NAMM is geared much more towards B2B companies.  IMO, for others it is pretty much an excuse to party and hang out with industry friends.

Since Warmoth is a replacement parts company, it makes it difficult to have completed instruments in your booth for people to try out.  And that is one of the other big draws.

I had several people stop by my booth looking for W parts. several of these folks missed the 'unofficial' part of this forum name and caught only my post of where I was hanging

all of these folks appeared to be looking for parts, since they clearly knew what W does

all the best,

There was a thread on NAMM's LinkedIn group recently where they discussed the reasons why direct-sales manufacturers still attend NAMM. One primary goal is to do business with distributors in foreign countries.

I think direct companies like Carvin do Namm mainly because of the publicity buzz that goes along with it.
Retail music stores loath companies like Carvin because they're direct, but you have to admit, when Carvin artists show up at the Carvin booth during Namm week, it piques interest in the market place.  It's pretty much against the grain, but for a company as big as Carvin, it works for them.  It simply wouldn't be cost effective for a smaller company.

Thanks for the input guys.  There are some good points.  I don't see Warmoth enlisting foreign distributors anytime soon.  Them interwebs seem to be doing a bang up job bringing Warmoth to the world.

I can see NAMM being a good opportunity to network with other complementary companies.  (ie. DIY manufacturers, hardware manufacturers, etc...)  Just my personal opinion.
