Every neck I got from Warmoth has been worth the wait.... I think they must be really swamped because it took them a week to answer my email order (submitted one yesterday in fact and has yet to receive a response)

Its ok for me... gives me the time to get the funds ready... kinda like layaway if you know what I mean...

i've yet to order any kind of body as i am nervous that i am not capable of putting it all together (im new to all this guitar buliding game)
but have designed something quickly that looks like this:

any thoughts?

Well, if it comes finished from Warmoth, would not be the biggest trouble to put all things together, but if you have no idea what you should do, you'd better ask for a luthier to make it...

Not much, i think what you have though up is cool.. I too have not had any guitar building experience, but do have some great info from the guys here at Warmoth and the warmoth forums.

I would like to know where you made that picture though. all apart from the tuners are cool.

things like getting the body painted are not a problem
i will be able to fix neck to body etc
i just gotta be careful with the electrics.
im sure with the vast knowledge on these boards and a bit of common sense i will get through.

the picture i designed myself, borrowing different pictures from different websites and pasting them all together.

Nice body choice! A sweet deal for extra light. Make a list of every single part, starting at the headstock and working your way down. Then post the list and we can find any missing pieces.
Who's going to be finishing it? You? If so, I'd advise keeping it relatively simple the first time, and preparing for finishing setbacks. It's hard to get a nice, pro-looking finish the first time out. I've finished five of these now, and still haven't made a 'perfect' one.

Just skimmed the above - honestly, the electronics are pretty easy. That's the easiest part imho. Get a decent-wattage iron (40 is fine) and good light-duty solder from radio shack and take it slow.

Im going to getting a profesional sprayer to paint the guitar.

The pickguard will be ok with the pickups and the pickups will also be compatible with humbucker route, no need to fear... but you will need screws

Switch: yes 3 way, for the easy... you could mess around with the schematic, but looks like you don't know much yet about it, so you would better put the 3 way...

Electrics: four 25K pot, two 0.1µF capacitors for tone control if the pickups are EMG

The jack must be stereo (said on EMG site) don't know why

To me it's the hardest... I can make a PRS inlay on a fingerboard, but have difficulty to solder two wires  :sad1:  :dontknow:

I did the same thing when i found out about warmoth. I new nothing about and guitar electronics, back contours, nut sizes, routing, fretboard radius and now i do. All in only being logged in for 2 days, 1 hours and 27 minutes. on this site.  :laughing7:

As far as pots, capacitors, jack etc i will have to wait till i know exactly what pickups i wanna get. Due to my varied playing styles i would like to be able to chug away some thrash riffs one minute and then flick a switch and move onto some less harsh strum happy sounds. Am i even making sense? didn't think so! i like the style of the black flat EMG's i put in the mock up picture but not sure if i should take that route or not, any recommendations?

Looking forward to reading some replies.
