My new Blackburst Strat

Hey  :blob7:

Running firefox on a mac and can see no picks or even red X's.  Would love to see some pics as everyone is claiming great axes!  Do you have any pics posted on a link or anywhere else I might catch a peek?

Be cool and  :rock-on:

If I cut and paste the links into another window, I can see them.  Then since they're cached, they show in the thread.  :icon_scratch:

The fact you're essentially dealing with only 2 "colors" here (basically black and chrome) shows you've got a good eye for putting everything together and making it look fantastic.

As well, the shade of rosewood on the headstock blends perfectly with the shading in the quilt.

Bonus points for 70's pornstar headstock!   :icon_thumright:

If you can't see the pics, you probably have to go into your about:config and change the value for network.http.sendrefererheader or whatever the equivalent is for your browser.

Thanks for the kind replies guys.

The Cherry Sunburst was indeed based on a Valley Arts I saw on the cover of Guitar Player back in the nineties.
I prefered a maple neck and Warmoth really came through on this one. The birdseye is really awesome.
Back in those days, you could only order from a catalogue - no internet.
But I'm quite pleased with them.
Both the strat and soloist sound brilliant.
They've been my main guitars since I've got them.
I've been thinking about a new strat for a while now and first contemplated a sort of Blackmore Strat with scallops and all.
Then I started looking at the showcase bodies.
My first choice was a nice tigerburst but that was sold quite fast.
I've looked at a f ew blackburst but didn't like them until I found this one.
My first idea for a neck was a birdseye maple with indian rosewood fretboard and painted headstock.
It was actually my wife who pointed the rosewood neck ou to me.
I then messed around and "photoshopped" a strat with this body, neck and mirror pickguard and it looked quite nice.
But the result really exceeded my every expectation.
And last but not least, it sounds great.

Thanks Mr.E
I actually played in a band called Mystery.
Later on I had a hard rock coverband called Mr.E - the HAppy HArdrock HAnsemble. HAHAHA - get it  :toothy10:
Anywho, that's where my nick's from.µMR.E was my first choice but it was taken

I absolutely hate the idea of blackburst, but yours looks great.

Mirror guard was a perfect idea on there as well, if you ask me

:toothy11: nobody did

but, sincerely, you did a real good job on what I was predisposed to as a useless color scheme. props

Thanks,

I wasn't to fond of it either with a normal quilt.
But with this wild quilt it sort of grabbed my attention.
I found a picture of a black squire with a mirror pickguard and superimposed the pickguard and neck over the body and it sort of made sence.
My wife recommended the neck and the rest is history.
Just goes to show that you can't rely on the colour of the body alone to judge a guitar.
Sometimes a guitar is more than the sum of it's components.
I guess I just got lucky.
But making a collage of the various components definitely helped.
I even tried various colours of hardware, chrome and black and different combinations.

:hello2: You guessed right.
I ordered this guitar 12 years ago.
I asked for a 24 fret but they didn't take this in to account for the routing of the neck pickup.
So I had to loose one fret  :(

It's the spaces in the filename that messes things up. That link didn't work, but when I pasted the URL into the address field and replaced the two %20 with spaces, it worked.

Never put spaces in files names, prefer underscores, otherwise...

This is one seriously sweet strat, altho I don't like the GIANT headstockl, it's still a killer geetar.... :icon_thumright:
