Hello everyone, I'm new to the whole guitar building world and I'm going in head first. Here's what I'm building from warmoth.
Body:
Soloist
Alder
EMG 81 and 60
Recessed TOM

Neck:
22 6100 frets
Maple shaft
Ebony FB
Graphtech TUSQ XL nut
Sperzel lockers

I'm gonna get the body in red and black hardware. If anyone's got any suggestions or tips, please feel free to help out the newbie.

If you haven't ordered already, I strongly recommend stainless steel frets. Otherwise your build looks like a winner.

I agree, other than a TOM bridge, but that's just me.

I'd recommend taking a look at Roasted Maple for the neck shaft too. I've played one recently and they're really great. No finish required, still have the tone of Maple, but may be a bit dark for matching with red and black.

If you're looking to match a red body, Canary for the neck shaft is a good choice too. The Canary/Ebony neck I've got matches the red in my sunburst really well. The bonus with Canary is that it's a wood that doesn't require a finish and feels great to play on. Plus, Canary has many of the same tonal characteristics as Maple.
