I was presuming only 4 could be picked, left with no limits, I could think of many whom sacrificially fought to preserve our way of life and the resources we used to do so with.

...im guessin' yer one of dem dare injuns.

Yes, I am. Cherokee, Deer Clan.
Somehow "Tonytheflyingsquirrel" just doesn't sound Injun to me..... :dontknow:

It's Not "The" Flying Squirrel, it's just "Flying Squirrel", and it's not "injun", it's
"Indian."

Thank you.

Dude, don't be so anal.... :icon_biggrin:

I know it's not "injun", I happen to have a bit of Cherokee blood in my veins to from my fathers side.... :laughing7:

Build my own Mt. Rushmore in England so that I can put Page, Plant, Bonham, and Jones up there.  :icon_jokercolor:

It was very difficult to find four yanks that worked for me, but Tom Waits, Laurie Anderson, Sam Beam and... oh I don't know - Bruce? I'd prefer Neil Young and Leonard Cohen over the last two, but they're Canadian.

I'm not being anal, just keeping my heritage with respect.  Those of us that respect the old ways hold them sacred.
I wear my name with great honor and respect.  I can recall my great grandfather telling me of how he had his mouth washed out with soap for speaking Cherokee in school, this was as recent as the early 1900's, so I take it quite seriously and quite sensitively.

A little sensitivity goes a long way.  This thread was toeing the line from the beginning, since Mount Rushmore itself is a physical symbol of the European takeover of America... "Never mind that first treaty, you're gonna have to move.  Here, have some reservations.  Meanwhile we'll carve some giant white dudes into your sacred mountain."  Stay classy, Congress.

Well... SRV, EVH and all the other acronym dudes bore me to tears. And Hendrix, well he had a couple of good tunes but I never listen to him either. Too bluesy, too much yawning.

EDIT!

Oh now I'm getting it. My brain must have been switched off since I managed to miss both Adrian Belew and Marc Ribot. So those two, Tom Waits and, hmm... Shawn Lane?

Wow, you fail even more than before!

Wow...I leave for a few days and this is what happens? :icon_scratch:

Tony,  :rock-on: . I'm not sure what the individuals you named have to do with guitar, though. In any case, your post did get kind of a wierd reply...A very insensitive and poorly worded reply, I might add. :evil4: You have behaved admirably in the face of some low level ignorance. A thousand thanks to you, my freind, for keeping your cool.

As a member of a culture/society/civilization who had been living here several hundred years before the influx of 'settlers' into south Tejas, I can understand the need to represent on our national monuments the original inhabitants of our land.

I am sure though that the original purpose of the thread was just for fun. How many ways can one ask, "Who's your favorite guitar player? Who is the most important? Who rocks the most?" While the obvious answer to each of those questions is clearly ME...Let's have fun!  :hello2:

remember fun?  :icon_thumright:

Clearly I don't get it. Why?

You can't put obscure people like Marc Ribot on Mount Rushmore!  Who the hell IS Marc Ribot, anyway?  They have to be legends, household names everywhere.

Yeah, your real Mt. Rushmore would probably be Ford, Fillmore, Harrison, and Pierce.  ???
It's a Mt. Rushmore of Rock! It's got to be the big movers and shakers.

I propose an amendment to the premise.  Limiting the place of birth excludes too many pioneers.  Mount Rockmore should be a monument to Rock music, not nationality.
