Most beautiful finishes

Sorry, Eric, but I'm not crazy over that finish. Are bassist always more accepting of radical things than guitarists? It looks like a well-done finish, but it's not for me.

Yeah, I think they're more adventuresome.  There's a lot more time to think pounding out root notes and waiting for the guitarist to finish his solo.......

I find this Honeyburst to be right at the top of my list of finishes that make me drool

I'd show you and image of the sausage quilted maple top, but you'd go blind simply glancing at it  :glasses9:

all the best,

Hey, Skuttlefunk (what's your real name again?), think you can show me the top? That would look killer on an LP, I think.

Yeah, Greywolf (your real name?), natural wood can look pretty awesome.

Here's a Warmoth VW body (quilt maple on swamp ash) in HoneyBurst, not an LP. but you'll get the idea:

Top and rear routed?  More room for goodies?

yes - top and rear routed. this affords the traditional J-bass pickguard + control cover look from the front with room to install an 18v Aguilar OBP-1 that is bypassable via push/pull volume pot ... and at a price that relieves me from paying for custom CNC programming to enlarge a top loaded J-bass control cavity

all the best,

R

here's about as much as any mere mortal can view of the topside without going blind

for anything more, you'll just need to wait until I have links available for the entire project

close, but not the same bass

if you look closely at the banner image, that neck is Tele style with a square fretboard end. the image I posted above has a fretboard with a radiused end. more significantly - the banner bass image has J-bass shaped pickups and the image above has soapbars with EMG sized covers

all will be clearly exposed in just a couple of weeks    :toothy10:

all the best,

I need readers, which I don't have.  The pic is too small for me to tell.  I was guessing the fretboard had overhang, and the pickguard covered up what is the shown area on the other pic.  Oh well, can't wait to see.  What is meant by "sausage" when referring to quiltedness.
