Your Fractal unit will come with speaker IRs. They will actually come miic’d with different mics.  The guitar speaker and how it is miced accounts for a large portion of what you year recorded.

You want as neutral a sound system as possible to fully utilize this aspect. A guitar speaker and or cab is quite the opposite.

I CANNOT stress this enough.

I think this is probably the Carvin loudspeaker Spud referred to ($349USD for one, two for $629, such a deal!) .

I wasn't referring to this. Wrong product.

Ah, thank you, sir, for the correction.

I reckon Carvin/Kiesel's internal family politics notwithstanding, bailing out on the guitar tube amp market a few years ago has likely served them okay as modeling stuff has come to the fore.

Edit:

The URL I supplied is for the same product, it's just the two-speaker package part number.  You know, for f you want to play in lush, life-affirming STEREOPHONIC SOUND!

Actually that brings up a relevant point for this topic.
Stereo or Mono?
If you ever play live using FOH support, 85% of the channels are mixed mono.

Being that, I construct my patches in mono.  I don’t want to arrive at a performance and have phase cancellation issues due to FOH.

I'm totally mono all the way.  I mean the whole idea of the axeFX is you show up, plug it in, get a monitor mix and go.  Messing with stereo, especially in a bar where they don't have true stereo anyway, is just asking for it.  IMHO and all that...

So true! Long gone are the days of mic types, mic placements, bleed through, etc.  plug and play and trust the FOH guy knows his stuff.  You’re there to play/perform, he’s there to present it to the audience.

I wasn't suggesting getting two of them. 1000 watts full range mono outta suffice! :laughing7:
