I just got in on the pics, and that is one sharp looking guitar.  Probably gonna get a lot of second looks from folks who think it's just a traditional burst until they see the flake.  Definately a positive spin on the burst.  And I guess I'm in the minority because I like the black on black look.  :glasses9:

OK, I'm really diggin' that tortoise on there.  Throw the black knobs on top of it and you got urself dessert.  Yummy.

Is this a regular finish option?

On the showcase was stated as 'Metallic Tobacco Burst' and on the spec's sheet was just called. 'Special Finish'.
Did state that it was a one off as well.
But I kind-of doubt that  :dontknow:

I hope for others they will add it to there finishes, But you could always ask for it  :dontknow:

Well I now know that these's

Don't fit on Dimarzios Area's as they are to short in height, they fit on.
But ….. Area's pups are taller.
Can see in pic's, I got them on with springs on the neck pup & very small rubber on the other two pups.
May-be enough room for adjusting  :dontknow:

BUT .. and a big BUT at that !!

It's gotta be right for me to be completely happy with it ..
Want springs used on all.
So I ordered some proper Dimarzio cream covers, to make it right.  :icon_biggrin:

Haven't used these pups before, so didn't now there was a difference ……………… Do now.  :doh:

And YES that is a Tortoise Shell pickguard.  :tard:
Opted out of the Vintage Pearl and the Black as I've other guitars using that colour PG.
Seems to blend ok, and with the cream bits and rosewood neck.

I've had the Dimarzio "Area" pickup cover issue before, too. But, in looking at it, there's no mechanical reason they need to fit all the way down unless you're going to try to raise the pickup very high, which you wouldn't. The springs still bear down on the cover either way while the screws pull up on the pickup mounting plate, with the whole thing bearing against the bottom of the pickguard so there's not any difference in the solidity of the mount. In fact, given the same springs they're probably firmer with the shorter covers. I wouldn't worry about it, I guess is what I'm saying.

Can't get next to that tortie pickguard against that body finish, but I don't know what would look right.

I've bought a number of pickups from Sigler, pretty much whenever I go off the Bill Lawrences (though other pickups usually drive me back). They're good people (and NOT Musician's Fiend/Guitar Center/Bain Capitol/Mitt Romney, which counts for something). Warmoth is nuts if they DON'T make that finish a standard, but they're probably trying to see how many Forum fools they can trick into paying a $50 or $80 surcharge first.  :laughing7: I wonder just how much $$$ this forum generates for them, when you add in the peer pressure and "topping the Jones" syndrome.... $5,000 a month?

I'll bet it's more than that. On popular forums like this one it's pretty easy for the lurkers to outnumber the posters by about 10:1 so the influence it larger than it seems. Somebody who doesn't want to talk about it may read/see enough to work up the gumption to do something they may not have done otherwise.

Parchment is the perfect color for Strat pickguards. Goes great with everything but white.

The Dimarzio cream covers (that I just got) don't go with any of the knobs I have.
Oh well I'll leave it as the aged cream, which looks heaps better anyway.

Now  :icon_scratch:  I just noticed something with the pickguard cutout around the wilkinson trem.
It's hard up against one side, where there is a gap on the other side.

I don't know, either, but I've got one here that ended up that way. I blamed myself for not being careful enough when positioning the 'guard before drilling the holes, but I've seen it on others as well. Now you're saying it's happening to you. I'd like to think I wouldn't be so careless in positioning because I know it's critical, and I know this isn't the first pickguard you've installed, so what's leading us to believe it's in the right place when it's not? Or, are we right and the 'guards are wrong?

I have two pickguards that look exactly like that with wilkies. If I hold a US Standard Strat trem where it would intersect the posts, the pickguard is a perfect fit for the fender. So the blank space above and to the side is just what's missing from the stock trem.
