Meanwhile, at Warmoth....the Mooncaster SSB body is unleashed!!

Don't know why the better neighborhoods don't have them.

For the same reason weed was illegalized (of course it's a real word!) in the first place - it's associated with an Undesirable Element, i.e., jazz musicians and loose women.  It ain't good for the snooty folks' property values if you zone for wacky tobacky outlets.

But hey, man, how 'bout them Mooncaster bass bodies, eh?

Aaron, I have another question for you.  Can you tell me how the demo bass you played was wired?  Specifically the pot resistances and tone capacitor values?  Because it just sounds great.

Oh, fer cryin' out loud....(starts looking for screwdriver)
Sorry, man.  If it's too much don't sweat it.

Naw....just giving you a hard time. I popped the cover off and took some pics. I am gonna guess they are 250K pots and .047 caps.

Thanks, Aaron.  That helps me a ton!

You know I've seen lots of mean drunks.  I've never seen a mean stoner.  And you think it's not done in the better neighborhoods, you're smoking something yourself.  They just pay more for it.

I'm with you.  I know that the wealthy nabobs enjoy their refreshments as much as or more than the hoi polloi.  But you don't see a lot of liquor stores in the highfalutin' neighborhoods either.

Hey Aaron.... sorry to bug you but...

TV Jones also has other bass pickups in what they call the Universal Case Pickup size.... Presuming they would also fit into the Mooncaster SSB routing you guys do for the ThunderTron?

If they are the same size, including the same thickness, I don't see whey they wouldn't work, but they have not been tested and verified. I believe all the TV Jones universal mount pickups are the same, though.

Gotta head over to TV Jones site and check out the dimensions....I know the pickup case size is the same but since posting that enquiry I was wondering if another bass pickup might be a thicker pickup.... They do a Ricky sounding pickup & with ALL the hassles of buying a genuine Ricky bass (not to mention it's poor reputation for serviceability) this might be a  way to get a short scale bass AND a Ricky sound in one.. :icon_thumright:

Hmm... Looks like they're close to the size of the Seymour Duncan Lemmy signature pickups...

Well, I headed over to TV Jones site but sizings are not disclosed. The Universal Mount is the same width & length but there is a question about the depth of each pickup, especially when Warmoth are only offering the routing in a Thunder'Tron routing. If the Thunder'Mag is a thicker (deeper) pickup that could spell trouble. Not assuming all is same after one stuff up years ago, that lead me down a rabbit hole to try and resolve. Lodged a question with their Contact Technical people.....

Good news! Advice from TV Jones Technical is that the Thunder'Mag is the same depth as the Thunder'tron.  :hello2: :icon_thumright:

Just wondering if any other pickups fit this.  I think Lemmy's were mentioned.

I was looking at these but cannot find any sound clips.

The wilde or bill lawrence usa L-500 family fit in the universal mount of a gretsch, it ia aupposed to be a neutral pick up so it should work well with bass. I ordered one and a tv jones thunder’blade, it is the only version if tv’s bass pickups I have not tried, and frankly I am a bit underwhelmed with them, I have found them to be too clear and underwound for my taste, hence the L-500, I should have all my mooncaster parts in soon and will post back in a couple of weeks.

Cheers!
