Hey everybody...we just listed some really nice Ebony necks today. As you all know, us guitar players are having to readjust our expectations for Ebony. If this is what we can expect, count me in. I think these things look killer!

Indeed they are.  SN18161 will be coming to me.  I've been meaning to order a neck all week and was going to do a quartersawn canary with a macassar ebony board but when I saw that it was over.  I certainly hope I enjoy an all ebony neck :laughing11:

Those look really cool, but will they be stable? Sapwood looks pretty, but its trash wood.

My understanding is that Ebony isn't a sapwood/heartwood thing but merely coloration, hence Bob Taylor's long video about paying full price for ebony regardless of color. The point being that you couldn't tell what you were getting until you cut it down  - ie it's not just 40% of outer tree of size X.

Piebald, kinda cool

Nailed it.

I kind of like the idea of getting wild crazy coloration with a wonderful grain pattern as opposed to just a jet black piece to blend colors in.
After all, it's wood, don't ya want to see if if you're going for a wood look?
I understand if you are going for a solid color look overall, but with a black korina body, I'm all for getting a nicely streaked piece of wood, and I wouldn't want the fingerboard dyed just to hide that.

+1 from me and hats off to Bob Taylor, for not letting this stuff go to waste on a forest floor.

I like the neck you showed in another thread that was all the light colored ebony. Darn nice looking.

Agreed.  It scared the living daylights out of my wallet...
