I have been sitting on this neck for a few days now, vacillating over whether I should snatch it up myself or not. I've finally decided to let it go, so it will be making it's way to the In-Stock Showcase very soon. I don't need to tell you guys how rare this is...it is an absolutely killer piece of wood.

If any of you guys want this, you better start boxing out the competition now; throwing some elbows and establishing your position. No idea on the price yet. I'll be taking it over to the listing department as soon as I finish this post, and they will figure that out. Once it's photographed it will be listed...I'm guessing tomorrow.

That's an absolutely gorgeous piece! I didn't know Mahogany could come that way. I'm sure I've never seen it. Lucky for me, I'm not a big fan of Mahogany necks. But, somebody is gonna be real happy!

Beautiful piece of wood!  The black ebony fingerboard is a great touch.  :icon_thumright:

It would even be better if it was a satin finish instead of gloss and if the nut choice was left open to the buyer.  But hey, I'm not buying it so I'm not complaining.  Someone is going to love it, as is, no question.

Satin finishes turn into gloss finishes fairly quickly, and are ugly in the meantime. I don't know why anybody buys into them for guitar necks. It's like painting your car with water colors. Looks great for a minute, but an hour later it's crap. If you want the feel of a fresh satin finish, you want a raw neck, preferably one that's been burnished.

It just went live in the Showcase. Item number SN18278.

I love the look of that, but it's just too thin for me...

We need more fatbacks!  :icon_biggrin:

In a few weeks, I'll be getting a 500 buck check in the mail.  Yet another thing I want to buy that costs right around 500 bucks.

To the person who gets this, you have my jealousy and congratulations.  This is almost my perfect neck, the only thing I would do differently would be the LSR nut instead.

An absolutely stunning piece of mahogany! Although I'm not a potential buyer for this particular neck either, I agree with Doc that it's a shame Warmoth is pre-installing frets and nuts instead of leaving it to the buyer to decide. The showcase had a few necks I really liked, but passed bye because of the fret choices.

Flame mahogany, white ebony and a number of gorgeous all-rosewood necks recently...whoever is doing the wholesale lumber purchasing deserves a raise.

Not to hijack the thread, but your experience is quite the opposite of mine.  Most of my Warmoth maple necks are satin finish.  None have turned glossy.  To me, they feel like raw wood, but have the warranty protection that a finish on the neck allows.

How much time do you have on them? The change is gradual, but certain. If you're time-sharing amongst a collection like you've got, it could take quite a while to suffer finish wear.

Yum! That neck needs a simple solid color body IMO. All that beautiful flame is enough visual impact all by itself. Her is one treatment I just put together using the Warmoth body builder and Photoshop. If I had the funds right now I'd be all over that neck!

I agree, and that's a beautiful mock-up. Makes me want another Strat.

Both mock-ups show off that neck nicely. I especially like the way the light streaks in the tortoise shell pickguard accent the wood in the headstock.

Hey everybody....some insider information for you: I just found out there are a few more absolutely killer necks from this same batch of mahogany. I saw another Strat® replacement, and a couple Teles® too. These will probably go into the showcase without much fanfare, so if you're interested keep an eye out.
